From the moment Jack Black and Kyle Gass stepped onto the stage, I could tell this was going to be an experience like no other I’ve had.

Their first full UK tour since 2019..The “Spicy Meatball” tour arrived in Manchester creating a unique atmosphere of laughter and rock 'n' roll.

If we are being honest, from a photographer perspective, the industry has took a downward step. But I could immediately tell this one was different. This was going to be fun!

Kicking off the night with "Kickapoo” from The Pic of Destiny album, Jack Black and Kyle Gass showcased their undeniable chemistry and musical prowess. The crowd singing along to every word, it was clear that the D's unique brand of comedy rock resonated deeply with their dedicated fanbase.

“Did anyone see The Pick of Destiny? Well you didn’t see it in the cinema, no one did! It almost destroyed us!”

Promising “Fire, Robots, Pyro and giant Saxophones” Black addresses what’s to come in-between chants of “D,D,D” from the now warmed up crowd.

"Tribute" and "Wonderboy" were definite highlights of the night. The energy was infectious as the duo commanded the stage with larger-than-life presence, and loud singalongs from the audience.

A big metal robot joins them on stage during “The Metal”

Gass, after Sax-a-Boom, playing Gerry Raferty‘s “Baker Street” on a comically oversized saxophone.

An arena laughing in unison as footage of the duo running naked, or what looks like naked on a beach during a cover of Chris Isaaks “Wicked Game”

In “Tribute” to Manchester, Black sings a few lines from classic “Smith’s” track, “How Soon is Now?” before leaving the stage….

Agreeing to play 3 more, but surprising us with 4. “Dio”, “Master Exploder” and “The Spicy Meatball Song” close the night before the comedy gem “Fuck Her Gently” sends Mancunians home happy after a perfect blend of rock n roll and comedy that you can only see at a Tenacious D gig.
