With more hits than you can shake a stick at, Irish pop band The Script are one of the most successful UK boybands out there. First releasing music as a group in 2008, the band consists of lead vocalist and keyboardist Danny O'Donoghue, lead guitarist Mark Sheehan, and drummer Glen Power. During their esteemed career as a band the group has sold over 20 million albums worldwide, won two World Music Awards, three Meteor Ireland Music Awards and have received two Brit Award nominations. The Script released their first ever greatest hits album in October 2021 titled ‘Tales from the Script: Greatest Hits’ and quickly after announced a huge headlining tour throughout Europe and the UK. We were lucky enough to catch the band as they took over the Manchester AO Arena with support from very special guest Ella Henderson.
One thing that has to be said about The Script is that they go all out on their live performances. A show from The Script will have you singing, dancing and at certain times feeling emotional throughout the concert and this night was no different. Kicking off the night in the best way the boys took to the stage with a giant confetti cannon covering the Manchester crowd as they started the show with “Superheroes”. This was just the start of a legendary show as throughout the night the boys would bounce between stages, performing from the B stage whilst surrounded by the standing crowd on a circular platform and they even took the show into the seating section of the arena as they performed a stripped back version of “If You Could See Me Now”. The Script played fan favourites like, “The Man Who Can't Be Moved”, “Six Degrees of Separation” and “For the First Time” as the Manchester crowd enjoyed the night that they had quite clearly been longing for. The lads returned to the main stage after a sea of cheers and chants for an encore consisting of the tracks, “No Good in Goodbye”, “Breakeven” and “Hall of Fame”.
