Closing out the last date on North American leg, Tori Kelly brings her purple skies world tour to a sold out night at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, California.
The stage floods with fog and dim purple lights as the beginning of “thing u do” plays, while a drum fill rolls the audience into excitement.
The two-time GRAMMY Award winning singer-songwriter, Kelly heavenly appears on stage in a silhouette of white light on top of a set of stairs.
Kelly’s known for her wide vocal range and effortless vocal runs that she nails. Delivering those runs prominently on songs like “Nobody Love”, “I’ll Find You”, and “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. With every run, the room erupted in deafening cheers and whistles.
“I look around this room and it’s a really special night already”, Kelly thanks her hometown show filled with her friends, family and everyone watching the livestream around the world to capture the important night.
“I’m blanking right now because it feels so surreal. I think of myself as a little girl and just looking out to the crowd, like it trips me out because this was just my biggest dream ever.”
I’ve been to many shows where artists get frustrated with the amount of people on their phones. Instead, Kelly challenges that during “distance”, where she directs the crowd to take out their phones and to video call someone right now that they miss. As Kelly sings, she takes a few phones from fans, serenading directly to the lucky people who were on the video call.
Kelly made sure to include a balanced mix of songs from her discography. Known for covers and medleys from her YouTube days, she blended the old and new together by including “Expensive” into the outro of “unbelievable” and a cover of Destiny’s Child, “Say My Name” into the outro of “cut”.
